Registering in Utrecht from abroad
Municipal registration for most people moving to Utrecht from abroad for a longer stay. Registration adds a resident to the BRP and provides a BSN.

- Eligibility
- Use resident registration if you are moving from abroad and will live in the Netherlands for longer than 4 months. For a stay of less than 4 months, use the RNI route instead. The official pages do not give a consistent route for exactly 4 months, so ask Utrecht before booking.
- Appointments
- Make an appointment and register within 5 days of arrival. Bring valid ID for everyone registering, proof that you may live in the Netherlands, proof of your Utrecht address, and any relevant original foreign birth, marriage or divorce documents. Partners and children being registered must attend. Utrecht says processing can take up to 4 weeks; you receive a BSN if you do not already have one.
